GRAEME
JENKINS, Dallas Opera's Music Director since 1994, conducts the
first-ever performances of Thérèse Raquin. He
is committed to introducing audiences to 20th century repertoire without
abandoning opera's traditional war horses. Thus, past seasons have
seen him conduct such diverse works as Ariodante, Billy Budd, Katya
Kabanova, Elektra, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Wozzeck, Das Rheingold,
Die Walkure and Siegfried - parts of The RIng Cycle which
will culminate with Gotterdammerung in the 2001-02 season. Before
coming to Dallas, he was Music Director of Glyndebourne Touring Opera
from 1986-91. |
STAGE DIRECTION
Award-winning
director FRANCESCA ZAMBELLO has directed many world premieres
of operas, among them Tobias Picker's highly acclaimed Emmeline.
She is not new to the Dallas Opera either, having worked on past Dallas
productions as Faust, Billy Budd, Jenufa, and Madama Butterfly.
She made her directing debut at Houston Grand Opera in 1984 with Fidelio
and has since staged a wide range of works for the leading opera companies
and festivals in Europe and North America.
