SARA
FULGONI (Thérèse Raquin)
The British mezzo-soprano makes her Dallas Opera debut in the title
role. Considered one of the top talents of her generation, Ms. Fulgoni
is is known for the rich quality of her voice and her dramatic stage
presence. She has received high critical accalim, among others, for
her performances as Carmen with the Welsh National Opera and
Opera de Toulouse; as Charlotte in the Tel Aviv production of Werther;
and in thetitle role in The Rape of Lucretia in Amsterdam and
Montpellier. Carmen was also the vehicle for her US debut at
the Santa Fe Opera in the 1999-2000 season. Her recordings include
Verdi's Oberto under Sir Neville Mariner on the Philips label
and Suor Angelica under Antonio Pappano on the EMI label.
DIANA
SOVIERO (Madame Raquin)
The American soprano gained international recognition singing
the role of Leila in New York City Opera's production of Bizet's Les
Pêcheurs de perles. She has since been acclaimed for her
performances in the world's leading opera houses singing what are
now considered her signature roles: Violetta in La traviata,
Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Suor Angelica and Adriana
Lecouvreur, to name a few. She returns to The Dallas Opera in
the role of Madame Raquin. Ms. Soviero has given many performances
with the company since her 1980 debut as Liu in Turandot; her
most recent appearance was in the title role of Madama Butterfly
in 1995.
RICHARD
BERNSTEIN (Laurent)
This young American bass-baritone known for his good looks, his
resonant voice, and his exciting stage presence is well on his way
to an international career. He first made the headlines when he "saved
the day" at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, stepping in as Figaro
for an ailing Bryn Terfel on opening night of La nozze di Figaro.
He has since been a frequent performer at the major opera houses in
Europe and America.

GORDON
GIETZ (Camille)
Considered one of the most promising tenors of his generation,
Gordon Gietz makes his debut with The Dallas Opera in the role of
Camille. He has performed with various opera companies in North America,
Europe and Asia singing such roles as Gerald in Lakme, the
Duke in Rigoletto, Tamino in Zauberflote. His future
appearances include lead roles in Katya Kabanova, Romeo
et Juliette, The Rake's Progress, and a Midsummer Night's Dream. |
