| Die blaue Stunde (The Blue Hour) |
According to Heinz Prammer, President of the European Society of
Arts and Culture: the time has come to rediscover the forgotten hour...
...the Blue Hour
| - | which somehow got lost in the cycle of time when in Europe more than half a century ago the lights went out |
| - | that "middle kingdom" between day and night which seduces one to relax and be carefree, to dream and let go. |
And what better way to appreciate the preciousness of the Blue Hour than to spend it with a precious guest? Thus, the Society brings back the Blue Hour by inviting celebrities to read as they please from their favorite book. Attendees have the rare opportunity to relax in the company of a celebrity - in the cozy, intimate atmosphere of an Old Viennese café and at the same time benefit people in need. For each Blue Hour is both a cultural and charitable event to benefit a worthy institution of the guest's own choosing: the celebrity guest gives of her time and 200 Schillings of each admission ticket goes to charity.

with Kammersängerin Hildegard Behrens who will
read from her favorite book(s) - for the benefit of Cancer Research for
Children at St. Anna Children's Hospital. |
| When:
15 February 2001, 19:00 Uhr (7:00 pm) Where: Cafe Prückel, Vienna. Stubenring 24 |
(The next Blue Hour on 19 April, 2001 will feature Kammerschauspielerin
Elfriede Ott - same time, same place; proceeds to go to the Elfriede Ott Foundation
for the benefit of physically handicapped children.)
Die blau Stunde - a fine time to ponder the color blue...
| ... | the color one can hear - as "Rhapsody in Blue" or the unofficial Austrian anthem "On the Beautiful Blue Danube;" |
| ... | the color one can see - as Santorini in August, or the sunset hour when the promise of twilight wafts in the air and the sky meets the sea as we welcome new evening; |
| ... | the color that makes a room complete - as Claude Monet's "Garden in Givenchy." |
(Based on materials provided by the European Society of Arts and Culture. Other Society events will be posted on FanFaire soon.)
